The Seattle-reared, internationally-influenced talents of the Here & Now Quintet have a decade of collaborative rapport as friends and musicians. Tatum Greenblatt (trumpet), Ben Roseth (saxophones), Drew Pierson (piano), David Dawda (bass), and Sean Hutchinson (drums) celebrate the release of their debut, Break of Day, on Origin's OA2 Records. It will be a reunion of sorts, says trumpeter Greenblatt: expect a fusion of fresh jazz perspectives from this conglomerate of Roosevelt and Garfield graduates. "We've been able to develop a really good chemistry personally and musically within the group," Greenblatt says. With members collaborating with the likes of Omer Avital, Alan Pasqua, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Maria Schneider, Danilo Perez, and Dave Holland, and composers in the band drawing influence from visits to Israel and Argentina, we'll sense the vitality in this quintet of young talents head on as they carve out their careers in New York City and beyond.
