Tish Oney’s Peggy Lee Project
Kirkland Performance Center, 7:30, $28 BUY ONLINE
In this one-night-only performance, vocalist Tish Oney and her band celebrate the songwriting talents of the late, great Peggy Lee and feature Oney’s contemporary jazz arrangements of songs co-written by Lee with Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Victor Young, Dave Barbour, and several other classic American Songbook composers. Peggy Lee composed lyrics to over 270 songs, although most remain relatively unknown. The Peggy Lee Project features songs audiences will know and love as well as several rarely-heard gems. Oney will be joined by jazz recording artists John Chiodini (guitar), Joel Hamilton (bass), and Kendall Kay (drums) to present this important tribute to a songwriting genius. Oney’s 2008 CD, Dear Peg, was co-produced by Peggy Lee’s former music director, John Chiodini, and released on the Rhombus label, garnering widespread acclaim and airplay.
