Jack Wilkins
$29 adult/$10 youth
Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been on the international jazz scene for more than four decades. He is well known amongst plectrumists as a guitarists' guitarist and is perhaps one of the most overlooked and under-appreciated performers among America's jazz guitar elite. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, Buddy Rich, Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Heath, Mel Tormé, Ray Charles, and Tony Bennett, to name a few. He has been profiled and featured in such publications as Guitar Player, Just Jazz Guitar, Down Beat, 20th Century Guitar, and Leonard Feather's Jazz Encyclopedia. Recently Wilkins was invited to the Smithsonian Institution to be part of the Blue Guitars exhibit, and was also invited to perform at the internationally-heralded J.V.C. Jazz Festival. He currently teaches at The New School, New York University, Long Island University, and the Manhattan School of Music, where he was recently awarded an NEA grant in recognition of his body of work.
Presented by Kirkland Performance Center and the Seattle Jazz Guitar Society.
