“This young musician and composer is at once reestablishing the artistic, cultural, and social tradition of jazz while creating an entirely new jazz language for the 21st century.”MacArthur Foundation, 2008.

Miguel Zenón is a multiple Grammy Nominee and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow. He is widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists of his generation. His unique voice as a composer offers a fine mix between Latin American Folkloric music and jazz. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Zenón’s distinguished career as a leader includes twelve albums, including the Grammy Nominated Yo Soy La Tradición (2018) and Típico (2017).

His most recent album, Sonero: The Music of Ismael Rivera, pays tribute to the legendary Puerto Rican vocalist and interpreter who revolutionized Latin-American music in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Zenon is supported by his international quartet:  Luis Perdomo (piano), Hans Glawischnig (bass), Henry Cole (drums).
