Pianist Aaron Parks is a forward-thinking jazz musician who came to the public’s attention during his time with trumpeter Terence Blanchard. Born in Seattle, Washington, Parks began playing piano at a young age and by the time he was 14 had enrolled in an early entrance degree program at the University of Washington.
In advance of their forthcoming album on Ropeadope Records, “Aaron Parks & Little Big” will be bringing all new music on their debut West Coast tour. The band could in some ways be seen as a continuation of the trajectory set on the pianist’s 2008 album “Invisible Cinema” – with a deeper commitment to melodic songwriting, modern rhythms, and immersive storytelling. The group brings their experiences not only from jazz and improvised music but also electronica, R&B, indie pop, alt-country, and much more, this is genre-fluid music which creates a world of its own.
