FRANCESCO CROSARA (piano) – Born in Milan, Italy, Francesco is a jazz pianist, composer and educator who has played at festivals and venues across the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, France, Spain, and Italy. Francesco attended the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he majored in harmony and composition. He has performed with Lionel Hampton, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, Richie Cole, Bobby Shew, Ira Sullivan, Don Menza, John Heard, Gabe Baltazar, Mayuto Correa, Bruce Forman, Barbara Morrison, Earl Palmer, Noel Okimoto, and Mark Lewis. He has produced 6 albums, featuring guest artists such as tenor sax great Von Freeman and singer Lilian Terry (Francesco’s mother, whose memoirs “Dizzy, Duke, Brother Ray and Friends” were just published by the University of Illinois Press).
Francesco’s discography includes six albums, also featuring Chicago tenor sax legend Von Freeman, singer Lilian Terry, and diverse musicians from the US, Brazil, Hawaii, and Egypt. Downbeat Jazz Magazine awarded a rating of 4 stars to his CD “Colors”.
DAN DUVAL (vibraphone) – Dan was introduced to the vibraphone at the age of ten by his father. A performer from the age of 13, he studied music at both Mt. Hood Community College & Western Washington University. Dan’s musical approach to the instrument was revolutionized during an intense week of instructional sessions with vibraphone legend Gary Burton, who inspired him to discover the unlimited musical possibilities of a seemingly limited percussive instrument.
Dan has performed with Marc Seals, Scott Reeves, Dave Peterson, Doug Ostgard, Rich Cole, Moyes Lucas Jr., Cary Black, Michael Powers, Milo Petersen, Darin Clendenin, Clipper Anderson, Mark Ivester, Eric Verlinde, Josh Rowlings, Evan Flory-Barnes, Chuck Kistler, Jeff Johnson, Brad Buck, Mark Lewis, Danny Kolke and Greg Williamson. Dan is the leader of the Good Vibes Quartet, whose first CD Badlands Express was just released in winter 2017.
