Jeremy Shakus & Jeremy Bacon

January 18 @ 3:00 pm5:00 pm

Jeremy Shaskus is a woodwinds performer, composer/arranger living in the greater Seattle area. At the age of 10 he moved with his family from Portland, OR to Seattle where he discovered a great musical education system to allow him to grow and begin to find his voice. In 2006 he graduated famed Roosevelt High School, performing in the award winning Jazz band, to travel across the country to study at William Paterson University on a full scholarship.

After graduating with a Bachelors in Music Jeremy began performing with faculty member Chico Mendoza as well as guitar virtuoso Gabe Marin and a slew of casual gigs with other working New York/New Jersey musicians. At the end of 2012 Jeremy moved back to Seattle where he began working hard to ground himself in the jazz tradition and cultivate his own voice.

Since returning to Seattle Jeremy has had the pleasure of performing with greats such as Julian Priester, Bernard Purdie, Greg Keplinger, David Haney, Rob Scheps, Vinny Golia, Nathan Breedlove and a slew of others both living in and outside of Seattle.

Currently Jeremy performs as a member of up and coming group “Breaks and Swells” as well as the 5 Stories Jazz Collective and does a fair amount of freelance composing/arranging in a wide variety of styles.

As a leader Jeremy has had the pleasure of performing twice in the Earshot Jazz in the 2nd Century Festival, recording original music on the now defunct Sonarchy Sessions as well as cultivate his own group “Jeremy’s Pyramid Scheme” with a soon-to-release album.

Jeremy Bacon was the regular pianist with the Charles Fambrough Trio, where he worked with Jeff “Tain” Watts, Joe Ford, Johnny Coles, Pat Martino, Mike Mossman, Ralph Bowen and others. Jeremy recorded “Cloud Hands,” his first album as a leader with members of this band. He also led his own group on two extended tours in Japan, was musical director for Joey Arias’ Billie Holliday show at Carnegie Hall, and worked with many singers and instrumentalists including renowned vocalist Queen Esther.
