Keith Klawitter toured the West Coast and Canada with The New Deal Rhythm Band. Since his return to the Northwest, he has backed up legendary jazz vocalists Mel Torme, Ernestine Anderson, and Tony Bennett. Keith has also performed with jazz instrumentalists Clark Terry, Lew Soloﬀ, Gary Herbig, Eliane Elias, Pete Christlieb, Andy Martin, Randy Brecker, and Dave Brubeck. In addition, he has played in the horn sections of The O’Jays, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Jerry Lewis, Ivan Neville with “Dumpstafunk” featuring Michael Brecker and Jimmy Vaughn, and with Toni Tenille’s big band and the O’Jays. Locally, he has performed in various groups such as Tuxedo Junction, The Seahawks Band, Doctor Funk, and salsa bands Latin Expression and La Mayor, and the The Blues Power Revue featuring The New Blues Brothers with its horn section “The Blues Power Horns.” Keith also has performed with the Keith Henson Jazz Octet: blending jazz swing and bossa nova’s performing a long successful stay at the B Sharp Cafe and recently with the David Joyner led group The Gritt City Jazz Octet featuring the top tier musicians in the puget sound area along with sensational Jazz Vocalist Lavon Hardison.
David Deacon-Joyner is the recently retired Professor of Music and Director of Jazz Studies at Pacific Lutheran University. From 1986 to 2000, he was professor on the faculty of the renowned jazz studies division at the University of North Texas. David is a busy freelance pianist, vocalist, composer, and arranger. He has performed throughout the United States and Canada, and his compositions and arrangements have been recorded and performed by renowned artists and orchestras all over the country.
