At the forefront of the resurgent bossa nova scene in the U.S., trumpeter/singer/songwriter Michel Navedo is known for his distinctive, alluring vocal tone and immediately recognizable instrumental style, combining elements of his Puerto Rican heritage in equal parts with the rich musical influences of his New Orleans upbringing.
On trumpet, Navedo evokes a warm, dark, soulful sound influenced equally by jazz greats such as Miles Davis, as by the masters of Cuban and Puerto Rican music. As songwriter, Navedo combines his love of Brazilian, Caribbean music and Jazz, with his skills as lyricist to create songs in English, Spanish and Portuguese. His inventiveness in mixing rhythm, harmony, and language truly sets his original compositions apart.
