New UW Jazz Faculty

Guitarist and 2012 Doris Duke Artist Award recipient Bill Frisell and drummer Ted Poor join the UW Jazz Studies faculty this fall. Frisell joins as an affiliate professor, a position allowing him to use the UW School of Music as a creative laboratory for musical exploration and collaboration with students and faculty as his performance schedule allows, according to the university’s announcement. Ted Poor joins the School of Music faculty as a full-time artist in residence. He relocates to Seattle, from New York, in the fall. The appointments are the first for new jazz department chair, associate professor and trumpeter Cuong Vu.
