Mayor Announces Additional Arts Education Funding
The city began implementing a Seattle and Seattle Public Schools partnership called the Creative Advantage with a $500,000 investment in arts education for Seattle Public Schools. A Wallace Foundation planning grant initiated the creation of the comprehensive K-12 arts plan, supporting a minimum of two hours per week of arts education and the purchase of instruments and other arts supplies for classrooms. These initial funds will reach students in and around Seattle’s Central District, in schools with strong existing partnerships with community-based arts education organizations. More information at seattle.gov/arts.
