SWOJO Composition Contest Winner

“Noir” by Jennifer Bellor of Rochester, NY, won this year’s Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra’s composition contest. “Deep Blue Sea” by Jihye Lee of Boston, MA, received honorable mention. The compositions will be performed and recorded live by the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra, featuring special guest artist Grace Kelly, at the Triple Door, November 4, as part of the Earshot Jazz Festival. SWOJO also shares that they’ve been awarded a grant from the Washington Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts to help sustain the composition contest.
