SMASH Open Enrollment
Enrollment into the Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare, or SMASH, is now open! SMASH is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting musicians’ health by providing access to healthcare benefits, including mental health, hearing, dental, preventative services among more. SMASH is open to all musicians and music teachers residing in King, Snohomish, Pierce, Mason, Kitsap, or Thurston counties who compose music and earn income within SMASH’s income guidelines. Please note that while SMASH is not a health insurance provider, applicants who do have insurance are still able to qualify for their services. 2022 STG’s More Music @ The Moore
Seattle Theatre Group’s (Paramount, Moore, and Neptune Theatres) 21st annual More Music @ The Moore auditions are now open! STG is seeking a variety of styles and genres presented by the most talented emerging artists, ages 14-21, in the region. Bands, ensembles, and soloists are all encouraged to audition. In addition to payment, selected acts will also perform at the Moore Theatre, receive mentorship from music industry leaders, receive collaboration opportunities, and more! To enter, submit a 3-minute live video by December 17. Applicants are encouraged to attend one of the open Zoom Q&A sessions on November 2 or December 7. Ready to learn more and sign-up? Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation 2021-22 Season Update
Hold the curtain! Due to the continued spread of COVID and its variants, Northshore Performing Arts Center Foundation has made the difficult decision to postpone the opening of their 2021-22 season to ensure the safety of all patrons, performers, and volunteers. The season will officially begin with The Nutcracker in December, with the remaining next four shows slated for the season to now premiere in the new year. On the horizon in their 2022 season is a “Tribute to Billie Holiday” starring Felicia Loud in April. Tickets are now on sale for the revised dates. Additionally, NPACF is seeking volunteers who are interested in helping the season kick off smoothly (and safely). To learn more, visit npacf.org.
International Society of Jazz Arrangers & Composers 2022 Commission
“Fundamental Freedoms” is a special commission opportunity for womxn jazz composers hosted by the International Society of Jazz Arrangers & Composers. This call is open to all womxn composers, regardless of age or nationality. Transgender and non-binary applicants are encouraged to apply. There is no application fee, however all applicants must be full (paid) members of ISJAC. The winning piece will receive a $2,500 commission prize and will be provided a $500 travel stipend to Austin, Texas for a world premiere performance at the annual Jazz Composers’ Symposium May 12-14, 2022. 2022 Seattle Center Activations
The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS) is seeking proposals from professional artists, both emerging and established, to develop temporary artworks for the 2022 Seattle Center Activations project on the Seattle Center campus from mid-August 2022 through early January 2023. These site-specific artworks are intended to evoke the beauty and joy that radiates from the Seattle Center campus, and applicants are encouraged to draw inspiration from the architecture and landscape of the campus. Selected artists will receive a $7,000 budget, which is funded by the Seattle Office of Art & Culture, Seattle Kraken, and Climate Pledge Arena. BIPOC artists are encouraged to apply. First-time applicants are also encouraged to attend the virtual Q&A workshop on November 2 to receive more information about the program and ask questions about the application process. Arts in the Park 2022 Grant
In partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Office of Arts & Culture is seeking to promote arts through community events in parks throughout the city. The Arts in Parks Program is a grant that supports new and established festivals or events that promote arts and cultural participation, celebrate diversity, build community connections, and activate while connecting with communities most impacted by systemic oppression including low-income, people with disabilities, immigrant and refugee communities, and communities of color. This grant is seeking artists who will engage one of Seattle’s many beautiful parks between April through November 2022, using an allocated budget of up to $7,800 for project related expenses. Applications are due December 1, 2021 by 5pm PST.
