Kate Olson’s KO Quartet is an ensemble dedicated to the performance of modern compositions in the jazz tradition, heavy on improvisation and exploration, while still rooted in familiar forms like the blues. Keep an eye out for their first full length album which will be coming out on Origin Records in January 2026.
Olson, an established musician, composer, and educator on the scene for well-over a decade has established herself as a force to be reckoned with. With numerous awards under her belt—most recently being named the 2023 Northwest Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year at the Golden Ear Awards, Olson is forging ahead with many unique projects. Involved in her own ensembles including KO Ensemble, and KO Solo, she’s also part of local projects such as The Royal Room Music Ensemble and Electric Circus and Battlestar Kalakala. Olson has worked with many artists such as Brandi Carlile, Elvis Costello, Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, Bobby Previte, Wayne Horvitz, and Skerik among others.
Opening, with her captivating band Ray Larsen (trumpet), Kelsey Mines (bass/voice), Elias Hampton (guitar), and Christopher Icasiano (drums), is Naomi Moon Siegel’s luminous and personal Constellation of Nows
