We are thrilled to present another week of music with LANGSTON for the second year at the 36th Earshot Jazz Festival this fall at the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute from October 22 – October 26 Kicking off the week of music and hailing from South Seattle, musician, writer, and community leader Gabriel Teodros is a creative force. Opening for Teodros is another Seattle stalwart, Afrocop, described by The Stranger as “psychadelic soul jazz shape-shifters.” The next night,  Freddy Fuego, the New York-raised, Seattle-based multi-instrumentalist (trombone, trumpet, flute, keys; and host of Jazz Caliente on KNKX) presents his latest work, an Earshot commission. Then the “über hip, modern yet timeless […]” (Downbeat) Riley Mulherkar who grew up in the Seattle jazz ecosystem takes the stage. Day Soul Exquisite will perform the following night with original music that has moved communities throughout the Pacific Northwest, exploring sound as a means of collective healing. BOOMscat will close out the week of music with a FREE workshop prior to their performance. They have released two albums and their EP No Life Jacket reached #18 on iTunes, RnB albums. The Examiner describes their work—”it’s acoustic, it’s introspective, sexy and inviting while being forward and a little bit shy.”
