Come join the party as we celebrate the outstanding achievements of Seattle jazz artists in 2024. The ceremony recognizes both emerging talent and Seattle veterans from all jazz genres. Special awards are also presented to people or groups that have made extraordinary contributions in 2024, perhaps through a remarkable presentation, support to fellow artists, or new initiatives in education or collaboration.
Helping us celebrate is Freddy Fuego and his ensemble. Trombonist, Fuego, was most recently on the Earshot stage at the latest Earshot Jazz Festival. As the awardee of the 2024 Earshot Jazz Commission, Fuego composed a piece for a large ensemble that bent genre, rhythm and harmony to create compelling music. Born into a Puerto Rican family and raised in New York, Fuego grew up on mix of funk, salsa, jazz and hip-hop that heavily influences his music. After attending Berklee School of Music and The New School for Jazz, Fuego launched his career in New York and toured extensively in Spain and Latin America, before eventually settling in Seattle. Expect exceptional and high energy music from Fugeo and his ensemble.
The Golden Ear Awards Ceremony will be hosted by the multi-talented, Alex Dugdale.
