Rising New York-based Japanese piano star Miki Yamanaka presents smart, swinging originals with a sharp modern edge. She plays with a “light, expressive touch and solidly crafted, mainstream approach” (All About Jazz). Joining Miki Yamanaka are Pablo Menares (bass) and Jimmy Macbride (drums).

Yamanaka’s  most recent and most celebrated release, Chance (Cellar Music), features her NYC rhythm section, Tyrone Allen and Jimmy Macbride. Additionally, Miki has emerged as a leader of the “New York Scene” via her notable residencies at mainstay West Village sister clubs Smalls and Mezzrow. She has worked with Jazz luminaries such as alto saxophonist Antonio Hart and Harish Raghavan among others.

Opening: One of the best jazz pianists of his generation, George Colligan—favored by titans like Cassandra Wilson, Ravi Coltrane, and Jack DeJohnette, in collaboration with emerging vocalist/songwriter phenom Zyanna Melada, with Robert Rodriguez (bass) and Micah Hummel (drums). They bridge generations with sophisticated piano stylings and radiant vocals. This will be an evening of jazz, funk, soul, and memorable songs.
