The Jazz Project 2017 Series

The Jazz Project, Bellingham’s non-profit jazz-support organization, announces its 2017 Art of Jazz series, with concerts running 4-6:30pm at venues throughout the city. The Bill Anschell Quartet performs January 29 at the Baay Theater; Ben Thomas Tango Quartet on February 26 at Church House; Wayne Horvitz Group on March 26 at The Majestic; Marina Albero Group on April 30 at the Baay Theater; and Josh Cook/Kevin Woods Quintet on May 28 at The Majestic. Century Turns 20

Century Ballroom celebrates its 20th anniversary this month with special events on top of its weekly programming. The beloved dance venue on Capitol Hill presents special guests including George Gee Swing Orchestra, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and Joan Soriano, as well as local artists including Casey MacGill and Jacob Zimmerman, for a month-long celebration of music and dance. Attendees will enjoy a wide variety of special live music nights as they dance Salsa, Swing, Tango, Bachata, Square Dance, and more. Visit centuryballroom.com for the full lineup of events.

4Culture Project Grants

The deadlines to apply for a 4Culture Project grant in Arts, Heritage, and Preservation have been set. Grants are available to artists and art groups, residing in King County, who are creating and presenting work in dance, theater, music, media, literature and the visual arts. The Arts Projects deadline for individuals and groups is March 1. More at 4culture.org.

Seattle Office of Arts & Culture Youth Arts Projects

Youth Arts is an annual funding program for arts education, beyond the regular school day, for Seattle middle and high school youth. Funds and technical assistance from this program help experienced teaching artists lead training programs and projects in all arts disciplines – from visual arts and theater to dance and film. Youth Arts prioritizes youth or communities with limited or no access to the arts. Funding awards range up to $10,000. Learn more at www.seattle.gov/arts.
