The first-ever Tacoma Jazz Walk on Saturday, March 5, is the latest highly anticipated addition to the jazz scene put on by the Tacoma Jazz Association, a local nonprofit.

The event will be staged in the heart of Tacoma’s historic Theater and Antique Row districts featuring some of the finest jazz talent in the Pacific Northwest. Nine venues will play host to an evening celebrating jazz. The venues are: The B Sharp Coffeehouse, Sanford & Son Antiques (Library & Auction Rooms), Tacoma City Ballet, B2 Fine Art Gallery, Serenity Spa, Tacoma Brewing Co., Abby’s on Broadway, and Abby’s Wine Shop. All venues are family-friendly for all ages.

The one-night jazz spectacular will feature more than 50 musicians from the Pacific Northwest, including Pearl Django, The Tracy Knoop Quartet featuring Bill Ramsay, The David Joyner Trio, Johnaye Kendrick, Jay Thomas, Kareem Kandi, and many more.

“We are very excited what the Jazz Walk offers to the local music and arts scene,” says Kareem Kandi, director of the Tacoma Jazz Association. “The reception we have had from the participating venues and performers has been inspiring….It’s going to be a great night of jazz.”

The event benefits the Tacoma Jazz Association and JazzClubsNW. Both organizations are member-run, member-sustained 501(c)(3) non-profits dedicated to supporting live music performance and education in Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest. The Tacoma Jazz Association presents live jazz every Friday night at the B Sharp Coffee House on Opera Alley. JazzClubsNW has organized the North Bend Jazz Walk since 2012.

One ticket allows access to all shows and venues. Ticket holders will be able to walk from venue to venue and enjoy the best the local jazz scene has to offer from 6pm to midnight.

Advance tickets are available online and offer the best value: Adult tickets are $20; youth tickets (under 15) are $10. Prices increase to $30/$15 at the door; day-of tickets can be purchased at Sanford & Sons Antiques (743 Broadway) in Tacoma’s Theater District. To promote sustaining memberships, the event website is promoting free tickets to new members who join the Tacoma Jazz Association through February 29. All proceeds benefit local jazz education, performance and scholarships.

The event is proud to be generously support by local corporate sponsors: Mercedes-Benz of Tacoma, Umpqua Bank, Jazz Live at Marine View, Titus-Will, Tacoma City Ballet, KPLU, and South Sound Magazine.
