A Timeless Tribute: Jazz Piano Trio Honors Duke Ellington’s Legacy in a Special Performance

In a celebration of wit, romance, and the golden age of American songwriting, Francesco Crosara returns to the Cellar Cat with his jazz piano trio to celebrate the music of the great Cole Porter. This intimate jazz piano trio performance reimagines Porter’s iconic catalog with soulful nuance and modern artistry, inviting audiences to rediscover the sophistication and swing of one of the 20th century’s most beloved composers.

From the captivating swing of “Night And Day” to the fast uptempo rhythm of “Just One Of Those Things” to the haunting beauty of “Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye” and “Easy To Love”, the trio explores Porter’s melodies through lush harmonies, inventive improvisation, and rhythmic interplay. Anchored by Francesco Crosara’s expressive touch, Osama Afifi’s lyrical grounding, and Craig Cootsona’s dynamic textures, the ensemble brings fresh life to classics that have shaped generations of jazz and popular music.

“Cole Porter’s music is endlessly rich—melodically, harmonically, and emotionally,” says Crosara. “We wanted to honor his legacy not by replicating, but by conversing with it—letting his songs speak through our own musical voices.”

The tribute concert will be held at the Cellar Cat in Kingston on Sunday, May 18th at 5:30PM, inviting jazz lovers, music aficionados, and newcomers alike to experience the magic of Porter’s compositions in an intimate and welcoming setting.
