After Midnight weaves groundbreaking jazz standards with rapturous dance and the rhythmic poetry of Langston Hughes in a jubilant production fit to blow the roof off the theater.
The music director and conductor is William Knowles, who also plays keys. Rebecca Smith is the associate music director and substitute conductor. The band includes Chris Patin on drums, Lamar Lofton on bass, and Brian Bermudez, Derek Smith, and Alex Dugdale on reeds. Trumpets are played by Owuor Arunga and Nathan Breedlove, with Beserat Tafesse on trombone.
