Trio Brasileiro – Modern Choro Masters
Grammy nominated, internationally acclaimed, and known locally for the sold-out faculty concerts at Centrum, Trio Brasileiro will be displaying their consummate artistry in Seattle Folklore Society’s concert series. The group is dedicated to performing the great choro music of Brazil, as well as their own compositions, which are modern reflections of this style’s blend of European and African traditions.
After four recordings and successful tours through Europe and North and South America, they are receiving more than their share of accolades, including having their CD Rosa Dos Ventos, with clarinetist Anat Cohen, nominated for a 2018 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album and named one of the top twenty jazz recordings of the year in the Downbeat Magazine Readers’ Poll.
Trio Brasileiro includes the celebrated guitarist and full time member of the award-winning Brasil Guitar Duo, Douglas Lora; one of Brazil’s finest mandolin virtuosos, Dudu Maia; and the master of Brazilian percussion and hand pan, Alexandre Lora.
