Carmen Rothwell, bassist, is an active voice in the jazz and improvised music scene, with home bases in Seattle and New York City. A graduate of the University of Washington’s Jazz Studies program, she is known especially for her great sound and versatility. Racer Sessions: Idit Shner

An active performer of both jazz and classical music, Idit Shner has played in various distinguished venues in the United States and abroad, such as The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Lincoln Center in New York. Currently Shner plays with her jazz quartet in Eugene and Portland, Oregon. Her latest project involves nursery rhymes and ancient melodies from the Jewish liturgy performed in a jazz setting. Every Sunday the Racer Sessions feature a different artist or group who perform original music and provide a short explanation of their creative process. Afterwards, a jam session takes place, often based on the concepts and approaches outlined in the opening presentation.
