In a Letter from the Director, John Gilbreath discusses the village in Seattle that keeps the Jazz scene up and moving. He highlights jazz education programs at Washington Middle School, Garfield High School, Roosevelt High School, and Bothell High School. Haley Freedlund also gets a shoutout for their all-around presence, support, and accomplishment on, off, and behind the stage. Gilbreath also looks forward to the 2023 Earshot Jazz Festival.
Mowry’s instincts as an educator come across immediately when you talk to her. She has that knack for explaining difficult concepts in ways that are easy to understand. She’s animated and gestures with her hands. She frequently brings up the fact that her students have taught her as much as she’s taught them.
