With March comes our favorite tradition of the year, the Golden Ear Awards! Join us on March 13 at The Royal Room as we celebrate the outstanding achievements of Seattle jazz artists from the previous year. Since 1990, this special evening has recognized and celebrated both emerging talent and Seattle veterans from all jazz genres. Through a democratic nomination and voting process, awards are presented in the following categories: NW Recording of the Year, NW Acoustic Ensemble of the Year, NW Alternative Jazz Group of the Year, NW Emerging Artist of the Year, NW Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year, NW Vocalist of the Year, NW Concert of the Year, and Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame. Special awards are also presented to people or groups that have made extraordinary contributions in 2022, whether through a remarkable presentation, support to fellow artists, or new initiatives in education or collaboration.

Helping us celebrate is the Marina Albero Trio, hitting at 6:30pm. Highly acclaimed and passionate composer, pianist, and community organizer Marina Albero leads a trio featuring Kelsey Mines on bass and Xavier Lecouturier on drums. Both talented and experienced bandleaders in their own right, Mines and Lecouturier were both 2022 recipients of the Earshot Jazz Commissions program. Albero was the recipient of two awards last year for NW Concert of the Year and NW Acoustic Ensemble of the Year. At 7:30pm, the Golden Ear Awards ceremony will be once again hosted by the multi-talented Alex Dugdale, a Golden Ear recipient himself for the 2021 NW Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year.

After the awards, stick around for the weekly Monday night jam session hosted by eight-time Golden Ear Award-winner, Thomas Marriott. This party goes late!

Tickets by sliding-scale donation. Advance tickets are available at earshot.org. For dinner & seating reservations, email
