Earshot Jazz would like to introduce you to our board members. They’re a group whose work often goes unnoticed by the broader public, but we value their expertise and their dedication to Earshot Jazz. Each month you’ll meet someone new—in July, please meet Alex Dugdale.

What is your name, board position, and pronouns?

Alex Dugdale, board member. He/Him.

How long have you served on the Earshot Jazz board and please mention any other EJ board positions you’ve held, if any?

I just started a couple months ago and am excited to be a part of the board.

What led you to join the Earshot Jazz Board of Directors?

I was approached by John Gilbreath, however, I have been looking for a way to learn more about the administrative side of the Seattle jazz scene and non-profit organizations for a long time.

Tell us something you’re proud of that Earshot has achieved.

I am proud of the sense of community and opportunity that Earshot has achieved and am very excited to explore the full potential of this incredible organization.

Tell us a little about your background (professional qualifications, job, interests, talents, etc.)?

I have been a professional musician in Seattle since 2013 and have grown up here. I feel very well connected to the scene. I have been working with Earshot Jazz since I was in high school and have been involved in performance ensembles, education organizations, and non-profits for the last 7 years.

Times since 2020 have been challenging. Are there any other organizations or inspirational people you’d like to highlight that stood out to you?

I would like to thank my parents DC Dugdale and Colleen McKinnon, as well as, my band mates John Hansen, Max Holmberg, Cole Schuster, Greg Feingold, and Jun Iida for being fantastic friends and amazingly inspirational players. I would not have made it through this without them.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Thank you so much for this opportunity and I look forward to serving on the board! JAZZ!
